Surah Yusuf is a Meccan Surah, revealed in the year of sorrow (‘Aam al-Huzn) approximately three years before the Hijrah (migration to Medina). This was a period of immense grief for the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), marked by the passing of his protective uncle, Abu Talib, and his beloved wife, Khadijah (RA), and by intense persecution from the Quraysh.
Maulana Maududi’s introduction emphasizes that this Surah is unique in the Quran. While other Meccan surahs generally present arguments for Tawheed (monotheism), refute shirk (polytheism), and warn of the Hereafter through a variety of themes, Surah Yusuf is distinctbecause it narrates a single, complete, and continuous story from beginning to end.

- Answering the Demand of the Quraysh: The disbelievers of Mecca, intrigued by the stories of previous nations mentioned in other surahs, challenged the Prophet to narrate the full story of the people of Joseph, who were well-known in Arabian tradition. This Surah was revealed in response to that challenge, presenting the true, divinely-preserved account, free from the corruption and myths found in other narratives.
- A Psychological Masterpiece: Maulana Maududi highlights that the story is not just a historical account but a profound psychological drama. It delves deep into human emotions—jealousy, love, temptation, despair, patience, and forgiveness—making its lessons timeless and universally relatable. تفہیم القرآن سے سورۃ یوسف کا تعارف
سورۃ یوسف ایک مکی سورت ہے، جو غم کے سال (عامُ الحزن) میں ہجرت سے تقریباً تین سال پہلے نازل ہوئی۔ یہ نبی کریم ﷺ کے لیے انتہائی رنج و غم کا دور تھا، جس میں آپ کے محافظ چچا ابو طالب اور محبوب زوجہ حضرت خدیجہ رضی اللہ عنہا کا انتقال ہوا، اور قریش کی طرف سے سخت ایذا رسانی کا سامنا رہا۔
مولانا مودودی کا تعارف اس بات پر زور دیتا ہے کہ یہ سورت قرآن میں منفرد ہے۔ جہاں دیگر مکی سورتیں عموماً توحید کے دلائل، شرک کی تردید اور آخرت کی تنبیہ مختلف موضوعات کے ذریعے پیش کرتی ہیں، وہیں سورۃ یوسف اس لحاظ سے ممتاز ہے کہ یہ شروع سے آخر تک ایک مکمل اور مسلسل واقعہ بیان کرتی ہے۔

۱۔ تسلی اور امید کی کہانی
اس سورت کے نزول کا بنیادی سبب نبی کریم ﷺ اور مٹھی بھر مظلوم مسلمانوں کو تسلی دینا تھا۔ حضرت یوسف علیہ السلام کا قصہ بیان کر کے — جنہوں نے بھائیوں کی دغابازی، غلامی، قید اور خاندان سے جدائی جیسے سخت آزمائشوں کا سامنا کیا، مگر بالآخر عظیم عزت و اقتدار سے نوازے گئے — سورت یہ طاقتور پیغام دیتی ہے کہ ہر مشکل کے بعد آسانی آتی ہے۔ اس نے مسلمانوں کو یقین دلایا کہ ان کی بظاہر مایوس کن صورتحال بھی اللہ کے منصوبے کے تحت فتح میں بدل جائے گی۔
۲۔ قریش کے مطالبے کا جواب
مکہ کے کافر، دیگر سورتوں میں پچھلی قوموں کے تذکروں سے متجسس ہو کر، نبی ﷺ کو یوسف علیہ السلام کے خاندان کا پورا قصہ سنانے کا چیلنج دیتے تھے، جو عرب روایت میں معروف تھا۔ یہ سورت اسی چیلنج کے جواب میں نازل ہوئی اور اس واقعے کا حقیقی، الہٰی محفوظ بیان پیش کیا — ان تحریفات اور من گھڑت باتوں سے پاک جو دیگر روایات میں شامل ہو گئی تھیں۔
۳۔ ایک نفسیاتی شاہکار
مولانا مودودی اس بات کو اجاگر کرتے ہیں کہ یہ قصہ محض ایک تاریخی واقعہ نہیں بلکہ ایک گہرا نفسیاتی ڈرامہ ہے۔ یہ انسانی جذبات — حسد، محبت، آزمائش، مایوسی، صبر اور معافی — کی گہرائیوں میں اترتا ہے، جس سے اس کے سبق ہمیشہ کے لیے قابل عمل اور ہر انسان سے متعلق بن جاتے ہیں۔ یہ دکھاتا ہے کہ برے منصوبے آخرکار ناکام ہوتے ہیں اور اللہ کا منصوبہ انتہائی غیر متوقع حالات میں بھی غالب آتا ہے۔
۴۔ نبوت کی دلیل
اس بیان کی تفصیل، ربط اور بے عیب ہونا، جو ایک اَن پڑھ نبی ﷺ کی زبان سے ادا ہوا، خود ایک عظیم معجزہ اور قرآن کے الہٰی ہونے کی دلیل ہے۔ یہ ایک ایسا قصہ تھا جس سے عرب واقف تھے، لیکن اس انداز اور اخلاقی گہرائی کے ساتھ جس کی وہ نقل کرنے سے قاصر تھے — اور اس نے ناقدین کو لاجواب کر دیا۔
۵۔ دعوت کا ایک سبق
یہ قصہ مومنوں کے لیے ایک نمونہ فراہم کرتا ہے کہ سخت ترین حالات میں بھی اللہ کا پیغام کیسے پہنچایا جائے۔ قید خانے میں بھی یوسف علیہ السلام نے لوگوں کو توحید کی طرف بلانے کا ایک موقع بھی نہ گنوایا — صبر، حکمت اور مضبوط ایمان کا مظاہرہ کرتے ہوئے۔
خلاصہ یہ کہ مولانا مودودی سورۃ یوسف کو امید، صبر اور خیر کی بدی پر حتمی فتح کا ایک الہٰی بیان قرار دیتے ہیں۔ یہ ابتدائی مسلم امت کے حوصلے بلند کرنے کے لیے بروقت نازل ہونے والی وحی تھی — انہیں یہ دکھانے کے لیے کہ ان کی موجودہ تکلیف اللہ کی مقررہ فتح کا پیش خیمہ ہے، بالکل ویسے ہی جیسے اللہ نے حضرت یوسف کی عظیم آزمائشوں کے بعد ان کے لیے ایک خوبصورت انجام لکھ رکھا تھا۔ یہ ایک ایسی کہانی ہے جو سیدھی دل سے بات کرتی ہے — قصہ گوئی کے فن کے ذریعے تسلی دیتی اور ایمان کو مضبوط کرتی ہے۔
